At the early age of 13, Cheng Lin released her debut album and became the most successful vocalist of her generation, achieving superstar status in China. To date, she has sold more than 20 million albums in Asia and has become a cultural phenomenon.

In addition to her vocal talents, Cheng Lin is a classically trained Erhu player (the two-stringed Chinese violin pronounced Erhu - "ar-hoo"). She was taught to play by her father at age six. Her father told her never to stop playing the Erhu and to introduce the instrument to the world - especially the West. She went to America to fulfill this mission in the 1990's. At the same time she learned English, studied Western music, and developed a unique blend of East meets West musical style. Her music comes from the purity of her heart and the depth of her soul. The emotion of her music has touched the hearts and moved the spirits of music lovers around the world.

  1. Chenglin is currently writing her new book “Ray of Light” which will be soon available to readers. The book shares multi-talented Chenglin's spiritual and musical journey as one of the most influential artists in China. As a child star, she witnessed and experienced first hand many of the powerful events that took place in the past two decades of China’s cultural and historical development.

  2. ChengLin is recently back from Los Angeles where she performed at the Nokia Theatre for "Songs of the Olympiad" which was a celebration of 100 days until the Beijing Oympics.

  3. Chenglin has been collaborating with musicians from China and around the world in recording her new song “Greater than Gold” written for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The song, produced by KC Porter, is expected to be part of her new release.

  4. “Heaven and Earth” is Chenglin’s newest CD and will soon be released in China and worldwide.

  5. Chenglin is preparing for her long overdue MTV Unplugged concert sometime in 2008. Music lovers will enjoy her greatest hits from the past as well as some of her newest compositions.
